The Standard We Follow
We build and test this website against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. WCAG 2.1 AA is the benchmark referenced by Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and by most state and local procurement requirements, including the government and municipal work we do across South Florida.
What We Do
- Keyboard access. Every interactive control — navigation, menus, carousels, video controls, and forms — can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator on each one.
- A "skip to content" link. The first stop on every page lets keyboard and screen reader users jump straight past the navigation.
- Text contrast. Body text, form labels, and placeholder text are checked against the WCAG AA contrast minimums on our dark color palette.
- Motion control. Autoplaying background video and demo reels carry a visible pause button, and we honor the operating system's "reduce motion" setting by holding playback back and showing a still frame instead.
- Meaningful structure. Headings run in order, landmarks label each region of the page, and images carry alt text that describes what they show.
- Labeled forms. Every form field has a visible label, and errors are reported in text rather than by color alone.
Where We Fall Short
We describe this site as partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA: most of it meets the standard, and parts of it do not yet. Third-party embeds — video players, maps, analytics, and spam protection — are outside our direct control, and older blog posts may contain images or documents we have not finished reviewing. We fix what we find as we find it.
